What is the NorCal GEC?
Founded in 2003, the Northern California Geriatric
Education Center addresses faculty and curriculum development in geriatric
education and training and provides clinical training of health professions
students on the campuses of our consortium members. The NorCal GEC
also addresses needs for geriatric education among health professionals
in the San Francisco Bay Area, in the Monterey Bay Area, and in the
rural counties of Northern California.
Our GEC services 30 counties in Northern California,
27 of which are rural and/or categorized as medically underserved
areas. To view the geographical areas served by the Northern California
GEC see our Coverage Map.
Geriatric Education Centers are funded by the US
Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services
Administration/Bureau of Health Professions (HRSA/BHPr).
